ROLLS-ROYCE ARMOURED CAR 1915-44. David Fletcher. Haynes Publishing 2017. ISBN 978 1 78521 058 7
Co-authored by a number of Tank Museum writers and others, this is a lovely book. The Rolls-Royce armoured car had a distinguished career serving in two world wars and interwar post colonial conflicts in a variety of environments across the world. Receiving a number of technical and weaponry improvements, the quality of the product ensured a superior performance compared to cheaper alternatives. Two thirds of the book is devoted to the history and development of the car, and the remainder to the technical aspects of the vehicle and maintenance. An additional section deals with the restoration of the Irish Rolls-Royce survivor Sliabh na mBan and notes on the other survivors. Probably, the most impressive part of the book is the large number of remarkable period photos from the Tank Museum archive, selected by the principal author, the great majority of which have not been in his past publications on the subject. Highly recommended.
