JP & I sprung a surprise visit on the Northern Home Counties branch meeting last night (23/07/2019) at Leverstock Green in Hemel Hempstead. We were made welcome by everyone and offered hot and cold refreshment as we settled in. After a period inspecting the models on display and the items that were on offer (at bargain prices), Chris Lloyd-Staples called the meeting to order and quickly summarised the agenda for the evening. In discussion with the branch members upcoming events were looked at with a view to members attending or branch participation. An open floor discussion on new kits followed with several members bringing in their latest acquisitions, and also naming a ‘new’ online reliable vendor in the Far East.
A quick break to replenish the highly appreciated beverages preceded a very interesting presentation by Annabel Eagle on the Maginot Line complete with a slide show illustrating the features and interior of the much vaunted French fortifications that ran from the Belgium to the Swiss border, and then more further South facing Italy. Annabel had amassed a lot of information describing the way the designs were arrived at, the construction and equipment within the structures. This generated a lot of talk and a need to look up more information!
An excellent evening out, and recommended for anyone who can get along.
