Take a close look at this one… it’s not the new Roden Panzerwerfer 42, nor is it the new Tamiya version. In fact it’s not new at all. Mark Ford started this one almost 23 years ago.
Judging by the age you might think is an Italeri SdKfz 4/1 15cm Panzerwerfer 42, but look closer at the roof line. Check the rear wheel configuration. They are more like a SdKfz251 or a Demag D7 than a SdKfz 4/1.
What is it?
It is a limited product resin kit with additional metal details. The company, NKC, has gone out of business over time. The model is an armoured SWS (heavy truck) with 15cm Panzerwerfer 42 Zehnling (10 tube rocket launcher). In reality, only 2 of these vehicles were built and fielded. Mark lost interest back then due to kit tracks and the paint he’d intended to use. So, it sat in the box until about 4 weeks ago. Fast forward since 1998 and great metal tracks from Fruil are now available. Mark picked up some paint from AK Real Color and was ready to finish this model. This is the finished model ready to mount on a scenic base. There is a detailed interior that the camera can’t reach so you will have to wait until shows resume to see it. 😥.
Never one to shy away from a challenge, as soon as I made the comment about the camera not being able to see the interior, Mark sent over some incredible interior shots, plus one of the brass rocket tubes before painting. Check them out at the end of the article…
